I'll Have What You're Having

Lately Max has been big into any kind of beverage that we have. He reaches and his eyes get big and he drools with anticipation of that taste...

He doesn't always get to have what we're drinking though...

Only 20 1/2 more years kiddo.

Sweet Potato

Max IS our little sweet potato... but that's not what this post is about :)

He's been eating sweet potatoes! Well, truth be told, he's eaten them once so far, but loved every bite!

Not so sure about this new food...
I'd rather just play with my toy...
Okay, I'll try some more...
Delicious!!
Thanks guys! I LOVE sweet potatoes!

What a little sweet potato!

5 months

Maxton is officially 5 months old! He's just such a joy to watch as he makes huge changes! His growing has finally slowed to a somewhat normal pace and as he reached 5 months he weighed in at 18 pounds and 13 ounces. He's still being breastfed, but we have introduced Rice Cereal throughout this past month. He enjoys it, but likes playing with the toy on the highchair more than eating right now!

Some of his favorite new things are:
  • Sitting up - he began this month with this new trick and it's only improved since then! Before long he'll just be sitting there, unassisted, playing away.
  • Eating EVERYTHING - if he could put US in his mouth, he would. He tries very hard actually, and it's really charming and cute!
  • Putting his bink in himself - this trick we LOVE! He likes to take his bink out, put it down, and then try his darndest to put it back in correctly. He can even tell if he has picked it up incorrectly and will put it back down and try again. He's getting really good at it! Now if only he had that same ambition in the middle of the night :)
  • Gracie - He just LOVES his puppy! All of our talk of getting rid of her is just out the door now because he would never forgive us. Seeing them together has renewed my love for her and made my love for Max grow as he becomes a lover of animals.
Here is a picture of our sitting little man at 5 months old:

Almost there!

In the past week we noticed that Max was wanting to sit up more and more. We started giving him more freedom to see what would happen. We, of course, think he is VERY advanced and have notified Stanford to prep him dorm room.

Friday January 29th

Monday February 8

So in a little over a week you can see the major improvement! We can't wait for more fun milestones!!

Fun in Washington

Since we've decided to forgive our dear friends Kim and Pat for taking their adorable son, Quinn and moving to WA on us, we were able to go and visit them!! It was so fun to see our favorite family in one of our favorite cities!

We had a great time seeing Lake Washington and visiting Kirkland, a city we really love! When Ritchie and I visited WA three years ago we found this town and fell in love with it, so it was really fun to know that Kim and Pat were so close and now we have an even better reason to frequent it!

Another city in Washington I just adore is Seattle. I love Pike's Place Market and can't wait to go back to do some of the other really great areas that Kim showed us while there. The Ballard Locks and Greenlake especially!! We'll hope for better weather the next time we're there to be able to do those things. In the meantime, we enjoyed Pike's Place as always!

When we weren't exploring we were hanging out at Casa de Gillette! Max loved Quinn's toys and Quinn himself! He had a great week with his good friend and I'm so looking forward to the day when their measly three month age difference doesn't feel so HUGE in terms of development and they can actually play together. I have a feeling those boys will have a ton of fun getting into trouble together!

It's so hard to get pics of the boys together... we do have a video though!
