12 weeks:

11 weeks:

We've had a busy couple of weeks, baby wise. Last Wednesday was a regular appointment and the doctor tried to find the heartbeat using a handheld doppler. She couldn't find it so we got another ultrasound just to make sure everything was okay. It was. The baby was right on track and the reason she couldn't hear the heartbeat is because my uterus is titled too far back right now, but that should change in the next month or so. I've attached the 11 week picture just so you could compare it to the 12 week ones that we got today!

Today was our NT (nuchal translucency) scan. Basically they take many different measurements of the baby to see if there is a high likelihood of chromosomal abnormalities, such as down syndrome. There weren't. While they were doing the measurements we got to look at the baby forever on a screen right in front of us! It was awesome! The baby moved and waved its legs and arms. She (we call it a she for now) was slightly stubborn (taking after mom already!) and wouldn't get into the right position for some of the measurements, but eventually she did and they were able to tell us that everything looks great so far!

The Cat is Out of the Bag

Well, most everyone knows now, so I suppose I can start blogging about it - WE'RE PREGNANT!
We are almost 12 weeks and are due on September 29, 2009. I cannot wait to meet this little baby I've been carrying for 3 months now and I'm sure by the time he/she is ready to come out, I'll be MORE than ready to meet him/her! haha! I had an appointment today and since I have a tilted uterus they couldn't hear the heartbeat just yet so they let me have another ultrasound. So, here is our little love at 11 weeks:

Yearning for Spring (or better yet Summer)

So, I'm freezing cold. My husband won't let me turn the heater up past 68 degrees (may as well be -2) and we're still a good 2 months away from some consistently warm weather. Sure, I shouldn't complain. I know people in upstate New York and Michigan who are being bombarded with snow. But, honestly, once we pass Christmas (okay, New Year's) I can just pass on the whole Winter thing. I like it for about a month. I know we have our nice days but I would love to be able to sit on my couch without socks, slippers, sweatshirts, a blanket, and seriously considering getting gloves.

Just a little bitch fest. Now you're all clear on where I stand about the weather. Come on sunshine!

Just thinking...

Observation: As I get older I realize that there are more and more things I want to accomplish. My interests are broadening.
Someday, I would like to say I have done the following:
  • Run a marathon
  • Play in a large poker tournament
  • Actually understand algebra and other advanced math
  • Publish something that someone else would actually purchase
That about does it for now. I'm sure there will be more to this list as the years pass.

Celebrate and Redecorate!

I have nothing more exciting to blog about so you faithful blog checkers will get to hear about our sudden decision to redecorate our house... all in time for Christmas Eve.

Let me start at the very beginning. We took a lovely trip to L.A. this past weekend to visit our fabulous friends Kirstie and Nick. They have an awesomely decorated town home. They are seriously talented. The way they put colors together and mix the old with the new is something I lack. But I digress. We got to talking and I mentioned that I wasn't loving what we had done to our new town home. It was all a very pale yellow and the room was pale green, pale, pale, pale. So, Kirstie, being the true friend that she is, busted out the color swatches and totally redecorated our town home for us! We loved the idea so much that we chatted the entire 6 hour car drive home about the changes we would make. I began looking on Pottery Barn (where else? some things never change) for cute design ideas. It was there (on my i-phone) that I found a $200 8X10 wool rug! It was marked down from $600!! We bypassed home to trek out to Stanford Shopping Center to buy one! We are loving the rug and the new colors.

That leads me to why this is all happening so quickly. I mean, we just got home on Sunday night and we want the entire downstairs done by the 24th. That's 2 days. So, being the gung-ho woman that I am, I began throwing color swatches on the wall first thing Monday morning. Then we realized that we were going to entertain for Christmas Eve and we had these HUGE color swatches all over our wall. Hmmm... well, there's no reason why I can't spend the day painting and finish it tonight so that we can clean tomorrow and prep for our dinner tomorrow night.

Whew! It's been a busy couple of days, but the rewards are amazing! We are loving the colors and the warmth it brings to our house. I will post pictures once it's done and the furniture is put back so, stay tuned...
